Compete
Competitive tennis is part of our DNA here at Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club and to underline this we run more teams than any other club in Wales as well as running and hosting tournaments, our own club championships and the biggest and most successful box league in Wales. To put is simply, if you are interested in playing competitive tennis in South Wales then look no further than Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club.
Teams
We run a staggering 36 teams each year with competitive tennis being played throughout Spring/Summer and Autumn/ Winter. This is a big commitment so whatever your age and ability there is probably a team that needs you so if you are interested in playing team tennis contact John Williams on 07796935609 or email him at johnwilliamstc@hotmail.com and he will put you in touch with the relevant captain of a suitable team. All players and Captains involved in team tennis should familiarise themselves with the players’ and captains’ charter which they are expected to adhere to.
You can follow the progress of our teams by visiting the Tennis Wales website.
Tournaments
The Club has hosted the Junior Welsh Championships when it is played in South Wales and we run our own grade 3 Junior Club Open Tournament in the Summer which attracts 200 entries. The event won Competition of the Year in the 2016 Tennis Wales Awards. We also run an annual away trip for Juniors to Torquay.
Club Championship
Our Club Championship is run throughout September each year. These events are extraordinarily well attended and fiercely competitive as everyone wants to be part of the club’s history. Each event has a tier system so everyone has a chance of being a Club Champion.
Practice
Our club has teams in the highest divisions of the National and South Wales Summer and Winter leagues and this is achieved through hard work, dedication and commitment. Men’s and Ladies’ practice for team players is on Mondays (Ladies’) and Tuesdays (Men’s) from April each year.
