Club Team of the Year and Presidents’ visit

It was the Tennis Wales awards dinner on the evening of 23rd February and I am pleased to announce that our Men’s First Team won the club team of the year award. This was very well deserved and recognised their outstanding performance over many years. For example, did you know that they are unbeaten for the last 9 years in the South Wales Summer Doubles league and have reached the National Finals twice in the last 3 years. Congratulations to all the players involved!
The following day we had a visit to the club from 2 Presidents and our very own club President Hywel James. Baroness Amanda Sater, President of Tennis Wales, came to the club on an arranged visit and played a very competitive set with some of our regular daytime players, including Pam Loosemoor who used to coach Amanda some 40 years ago. Amazing!
Sandi Proctor, the newly elected President of the LTA, who was also at the Awards Dinner dropped in to see our club and what a busy morning she witnessed. Not only were most of the courts being played on, but there was also one of our curry lunch events taking place where many of our Friday regulars stayed and enjoyed a chat and lunch.
What a busy and vibrant club is the message the 2 Presidents took away with them, so thank you to everyone involved in making it such a successful morning and once again congratulations to the Men’s First Team players.
