5 DAYS TO GO
Back by popular demand (well Richard Cole wanted it because he is doing well!!), here is a quick summary of what is happening with just 5 days left to play……
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Rhod the Omega Slayer (come on this is a good joke) is sitting at the top but still has to play current champion Meryl and Snowy so a lot left to do if he is to stay at the top
EUROPA
On the WEST it’s the battle of the former welsh champions, Paul and Rhian, for top spot. Ken has come back from injury and was a bit short of match practice and is relegated. Over in the EAST there are still 3 matches left to play with Chris Evans holding things up. Aeron is looking favourite for promotion with 2 wins under his belt. Brandon is flirting with relegation!!
BUNDESLIGA
In the WEST Chris Rees isn’t smiling any more as he lost in straight sets last night and potentially had his promotion dreams dashed in the process. Chris still has to play Peter and Hywel will be hoping to do the double over Jon H so still a bit of life left in this box from a promotion and relegation point of view. In the EAST we have been seeing a lot of the “Richard Cole Strut” lately as he seals promotion with 3 straight wins. Relegation will be between Rod, me and Meurig and I am playing Meurig on Saturday to decide who it is!!
LA LIGA
Been a slow start in the WEST with only Martin Rees making an effort so far with 2 matches under his belt and Pete Clue concentrating more on mixed doubles! Jon FL is holding things up a bit but to be fair he hurt himself skiing and has promised me he will play his matches this week. In the EAST newbie Joe Angell is struggling with a back injury and it’s looking unlikely he will play the last remaining matches against Gareth and John Cowell so will be relegated.
PREMIER
In the WEST Paul Senter still needs to play 2 matches so promotion is not decided. Its two down at this level and Paul Cousins will definitely be one of them. Across in the EAST newbie Jolyon has done @CLTCB123 proud with 3 wins and promotion. Mike Hobbs is relegated in his first season together with Som who put up a good fight winning one and losing 2 but in 3 sets each time and must feel very unlucky to be relegated with 7 points!!
PLAYOFFS
All matches played here with Graham, Rob, Val and Ivan all promoted and Aled, Dai (all good things come to an end), Marion and Sam relegated.
CHAMPIONSHIP
In the WEST Paul Rudolph still has two to play (come on Paul it’s not like you are busy or anything!!) and so promotion and relegation is still undecided.
In the EAST Dermot and Maeve will be promoted and Andrew Thomas is relegated.
DIVISION 1
In the WEST Vlad has won all his matches and is promoted. Alcoholic beverages mogul Kim has been spending too much time writing business plans and not enough time on the tennis courts and is relegated. Stephen Ng still needs to play John Hamilton. In the EAST a dramatic end with Arfon just pipping Daniel to promotion with both having 8 points but Arfon with a superior set difference. Ben is relegated again and needs to stop the rot quickly.
DIVISION 2
In the WEST Virginia has to play He He in a promotion shoot out. Gafyn is down. Across in the EAST this box still has a lot of work to do to finish on time with 3 matches left to play and all of them involving Alison and James
DIVISION 3
In the WEST Patrick is promoted with 2 wins. Rossi is relegated but Gill needs to win her last match to avoid joining her. The EAST is not looking too good with 3 matches left to play.
DIVSISION 4
In the WEST Alex Greenwood hasn’t played a match yet and seems to have gone off the grid judging by his failure to respond to emails! Jane looks like she has done enough to secure one of the promotion spots but that’s all I can say. Across in the EAST Angela has won all her matches and is promoted. Shelley has to beat Cathy if she wants to join her
OK that’s it. Please get your matches played and the results posted and if you do that we can have one more Boxleague season before Summer team tennis takes over.
